What You Need To Know
From Wednesday, September 10, through Wednesday, September 17, UTA will perform scheduled maintenance on the TRAX Blue Line rail crossing on 9000 South.
A bus bridge will be available to shuttle riders between affected stations on the Blue Line: Sandy Civic Center, Sandy Expo, Historic Sandy, and Midvale Center stations.
- Plan for delays of up to 30 minutes, depending on your starting and ending stations.
- To avoid delays, riders are encouraged to begin their trip after the affected area, if possible.
Regular TRAX service will resume on Thursday, September 18.
Impact on Traffic
- The rail crossing at 9000 South will be closed to through traffic.
- Westbound traffic will be detoured at 700 East.
- Eastbound traffic will be detoured at State Street.
- Local traffic only will be allowed on 9000 South during both closures, but there will be a hard closure at the rail line.
*On Saturday, September 13, all traffic lanes on 9000 South will be open by 2 p.m. By 11 p.m., only the westbound lanes will remain open.
What To Expect
- 24-hour construction will occur throughout the duration of the project.
- Noise levels will be moderate to high due to the use of heavy construction equipment.
- Roadway paving and compaction will generate engine noise, scraping, and vibrations from roller equipment as the surface is restored.
- Work is being performed on a compressed schedule, which means noise may be more concentrated but limited to a few days.
Why This Is Happening
This maintenance is part of UTA’s ongoing efforts to keep TRAX in good condition, reduce future disruptions, and improve long-term service quality.
